Teaching History: A Journal of Methods (THAJM) is an open-access journal serving historians, history teachers, and public historians. Since 1976, our articles have emphasized the use of primary and secondary sources in classrooms and the impact of specific strategies and practices on student learning. Founded in 1975 by Stephen Kneeshaw, Loren Pennington, and Philip Reed Rulon and first published in 1976, Teaching History’s purpose has been to provide teachers at all levels with the best and newest ideas for their classrooms. The journal is published once a year, in the fall. THAJM is a Ball State University Library Open Journal.

Jessamyn Neuhaus is the Editor of Teaching History and is currently soliciting submissions for the Fall 2024 issue, including a special section titled “Teaching History in the Time of Generative AI,” edited by Julia Gossard. Read the Call for Papers on the Teaching History Announcements page.
